The article briefly discusses how a hack from Moscow took control of roughly 27% of the TOR network to steal cryptocurrency. Control lasted 16 months by attacking visitors of cryptocurrency websites. While redirecting traffic from cryptocurrency websites, SSL was striped decreasing data security from HTTPS to HTTP. Attacks began January 2020 and by February 2021, the volume of infrastructure created has reached 27% of the total volume of the Tor network. TOR was in the lead position for securing over the internet but users have been increasingly complaining about technical holes in the Tor security system.
