OUYA's Emulators Submitted For Review

Over at the OUYA forum, I found a ‘tidbit’ of information for fans of old school retro games. The posting found on the forum states that several well known emulators will be coming to the OUYA. Those gamers who love the classic NES and SNES games should rejoice. According to the developer of  EMUya, the NES emulator  has already been submitted for review and should be available on the the OUYA at launch (March 28th). SNES & N64 fans will have a options as well. Both the  SuperGNES SNES emulator , and  Mupen64Plus N64 Emulator , will also be ported over to the OUYA. We have confirmed that the Mupen64Plus emulator will be available at launch. On top of this, today, we’ve learned via  twitter  that one developer is even working on an N-Gage emulator for the console. For me, this is exciting news, I always love kicking back old school and play an 8-bit or 16-bit title from back in the day. You can be sure that I’ll be keeping an eye on the emulator front. There i...

App Review: NodeBeat (HD)

Here is my review of NodeBeat by AffinityBlue. I love using the iPad as music creation tool. There are a lot apps in Apple’s App Store and the Android Market Place that help aspiring musicians reach their potential or amateurs reach some kind of music creating level. The best music creation apps are the ones that are fun and easy to use. NodeBeat is an intuitive and a visual music app for all ages. Create your own music in a matter of minutes or listen to NodeBeat generate its own. You can easily share your creations with others, upload to SoundCloud or save them for later to show your friends. You create your own music by dropping Generators and Notes on the ‘music space’. Generators and Notes make up the two types of nodes. Generators pulse and play Notes within proximity. A Note is played in sequence, based on the distance it is from its connected Generator. Pause nodes to create your own beats or let them roam free to have them generate their own. Below you’l...

Maintenance on a Mac

With owning a Apple MacBook Pro and iMac, I’ve asked myself what maintenance can I run on my Macs to keep them in running order. Apple brags that their other products “just work,” so many people never consider regular maintenance for their Macs. For the most part, there’s really little upkeep that you need to do, and much of the maintenance tasks are ones you would do on a PC as well. First thing you’ll want to perform is regular software updates on the Mac (under the Apple menu > Software Update). You can configure Apple’s Software Update to automatically check for updates regularly. Regular backups are also an essential part of computer maintenance;  Apple’s built-in Time Machine backup program is pretty good. You’ll find Time Machine in the Applications folder. Besides those two things, the Mac maintenance article on Apple’s support site recommends organizing your files, archiving old files, and physically cleaning your comput...

Encrypting BitTorrent Traffic

Encrypting bittorrent traffic in Windows and OS X. In Canada, there’s been a lot of chatter regarding our newly updated Copyright laws under Bill C-11. A big F-U to my MP representative and to the Conservative Party of Canada…leading the great puppet nation of Canada. Politics aside, let me tell you what’s happening right now. Voltage Pictures, the group that brought you The Hurt Locker and a whole list of shitty movies is taking action against user’s that have download The Hurt Locker  via Torrent networks. My guess to avoid being detected as a movie downloader, you should begin to encrypt your torrent downloads. Here’s how you can being encrypting torrent traffic. Windows users will want to user uTorrent, the number currently number 1 torrent client being downloaded right now. Open Preferences, select BitTorrent, under Protection Encryption select ‘FORCED’ and uncheck the box that says “Allow incoming legacy connections”. For uTorr...
