Speed is the key to making sure you can be as efficient and productive as possible. It’s also important if you need to run the newest software and applications. But sometimes a variety of factors can affect your computer’s performance and make it harder and more time-consuming to complete even the simplest tasks. Luckily, there are many ways to either increase your computer’s speed or remove the barriers that are preventing it from performing up to its potential. Here are a few tips and tricks that may help you get back up to speed. CLEAN UP YOUR HARD DRIVES In some cases, a slow computer could be the result of a full hard drive. It’s easy to find some unneeded documents ...

Hackintosh with Apple Keyboard, Magic Mouse & Magic Trackpad

COMPLETE YOUR HACKINTOSH No Hackintosh would be complete without pairing an Apple wireless keyboard, wireless Magic Mouse and or a Magic Trackpad. I currently have my hackintosh setup with an official Apple wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. Works great, out of the box with no issue. An App to Increase Battery Life of Smart Phones Author: Gayatri Radhakrishnan Smartphone users always face low battery problems because they have lots of applications on their phone. Applications basically need lot of power to run because of which phone batteries decrease at a faster rate. Smartphone users thus face problem when their phone gets switched off due to low battery. To avoid such problems, a team from the University of California Berkley has come up with a program that will help Smartphone users save their phone’s battery power. Apple TV2 ERROR 6000, 6001, 6002, 6003, etc

If you’re like me and you’re going for the iOS 5.0 update on your apple tv2 take note of the follow while trying to update. When trying to update my Apple TV2 with jailbroken firmware, I encountered the following error: “ ERROR 6004 “. Of course, this advice is beneficial to those getting ERROR code 9, 6000, 6001, 6002, 6003, 6004, etc . If you are receiving any error code stated above, it’s probably the connection between your Apple TV and computer. From what I have observed, make sure you use the USB ports directly connected to your motherboard. If I tried to use USB ports connected on the front of my computer case, I would get an error. So what does all this mean? Well, the USB connectors on the front of my case are crap. When I tried a different port on the back of my computer, I was able to successfully update the firmware to my Apple TV2 device. You should also confirm that the USB cable you’re using is also in good form. Another issue you may r...

.pkg Files Open Terminal, Don't Install

I ran into this problem I personally haven’t seen before. I downloaded an installation file from LogMeIn. The file downloaded as a .ZIP which I was able to open and out came a .pkg file. When I clicked on the .pkg file, my Terminal window would open. I had no idea what to do. Perhaps a file association was broken? I’ve seen this in Windows plenty of times and familiar with repairing the association. So how to you do this in Mac OS X? So to fix this problem, you need to assicate the .pkg with the Installer application. Where did you look for it? It’s located in /System/Library/CoreServices/. Select a .pkg file. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Open With panel select the Installer if it’s listed or find it in the /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder. Select it then click on the Change All button. This fixed my issue, hopefully it get you out of this bind!
