Joli OS (Operating System)

Looks like Google Chrome OS has been beaten to the punch.

Introducing Joli OS, a light weight web centric operating system for your netbook and antique computers.

If you’re thinking Joli OS is just like Google Chrome OS? You are correct, however, there are 2 main differences between the two operating systems:

1. Google Chrome OS does not dual boot with Windows
2. As of this posting, Google Chrome OS is not yet released

So Joli OS has access to hundreds of apps that you can install such as Audacity, Powerpoint Viewer, GIMP, just to name a few.

If you watch my video, you’ll see how you can create a LIVE version of Joli OS to try before you commit to installing on your computer system.

Joli OS is light weight for Netbooks and a great way to resurrect old computers no being used collecting dust in your closet or basement.

  1. [..YouTube..] Good walkthrough. If you could have opened a single app (shortcut), it would have given some insights as how the apps look and run :).

  3. thanks dude. well, when you click on an app, it opens a new tab, much like all current web browsers today

  4. Joli is not like Chrome, Chrome is like Joli OS. Joli has been around much much longer and actually supports far more features.

  5. [..YouTube..] Chrome OS also as far as I know has no printer support in the OS like the other distros so. I wonder if they will fix that?

  6. [..YouTube..] @SalsTavern I do like JoliOS, I am hoping that the upgrade will be worth the wait.Let me ask you. I once knew then, but have forgotten. If you were to install some software thats NOT in the Joli Repository, and its installed, its not in the application board, how can you get to it?And two, can sense JoliOS is based off the Ubuntu OS, can I still do the same thing to Joli to look at encrypted DVDs as I would any other Ubuntu based system? Thanks.
